The documents required to apply for a new PAN card in India depend on your category (individual, Hindu Undivided Family (HUF), etc.) and communication address (within India or foreign). However, here’s a general overview of the documents you’ll likely need:

Proof of Identity (POI):

  • Individuals: You can choose one from the following:
    • Aadhaar card
    • Voter’s ID card
    • Passport
    • Driving license
    • Photo ID card issued by Central/State Government or Public Sector Undertaking
    • Bank passbook with photograph
    • Ration card with photograph
    • Photo ID card issued by a recognized educational institution/University
    • Photo ID card issued by a Public Sector Bank/Undertaking
  • HUF:
    • Karta’s photo ID proof from the above list
    • Copy of PAN card of Karta
    • Copy of HUF bank passbook with photograph or statement

Proof of Date of Birth (DOB):

  • Same options as Proof of Identity (POI)
  • Birth certificate

Proof of Address (POA):

  • Individuals: You can choose one from the following:
    • Aadhaar card
    • Voter’s ID card
    • Passport
    • Driving license
    • Bank passbook with address
    • Ration card with address
    • Utility bills (electricity, water, telephone) not older than 3 months
    • Property tax receipt not older than 1 year
    • Allotment letter of flat/house issued by Govt. authority
    • Latest rent agreement with landlord’s signature and his/her address proof
  • HUF:
    • Karta’s Proof of Address (POA) from the above list

Additional Documents (if applicable):

  • Foreign Communication Address: Copy of valid foreign address proof and copy of visa/appointment letter/contract from Indian company (if applicable)
  • Change/Correction Request: Original PAN card and proof of change/correction (e.g., marriage certificate, name change document)
